What are Kris Allen’s words of wisdom for the new crop of American Idol contestants? “Don’t be nervous. People can tell, so just go out, be comfortable and be yourself,” the season 8 champ says. “Jumping jacks always help.”

The reigning Idol, who visited Radio Disney recently to record a spot for the Take Over With Ernie D show, has been watching season 9 and has already formed an opinion about the current top 24. “I thought Andrew Garcia was really good,” he says. But this year he predicts, “It’s going to be a girl, maybe a country girl.”

But the girl power should stop with the winner, he suggests. When it comes to who should replace Simon next season, Allen says he was a fan of Katy Perry’s guest-judging skills, but says, “that might be a little too woman friendly. Maybe it should be a guy.”

Don’t get him wrong — he loves Ellen. “She has a really great personality,” he says. “She’s a lot of fun. She’s really quick and is really good for live TV.”

He’ll witness her live quips next week when he pays a visit to the Idol set. “I’m going to be on the show after my trip to Haiti with the U.N.,” he says. “I’m going to help to raise awareness about what’s still going on in Haiti.”

In the midst of his “insane” schedule, Allen says there’s one thing he’s been able to keep in order, his new home, which is “completely furnished now,” he says.

Well, not quite. That doesn’t include a nursery. “No kids yet,” Allen says firmly. “We are thinking about getting a dog.” But poodles need not apply. Says Allen, “We need a dude-looking dog.”

On Friday night (February 12), “American Idol” fans in New York were in for a treat. Season-eight winner Kris Allen joined breakout superstar Adam Lambert and fourth-place finisher Allison Iraheta for a special concert, exclusive to contest winners of a Z100 radio giveaway, the “Rock My Town Ryan Seacrest” event at the Highline Ballroom.

MTV News “American Idol” expert Jim Cantiello was on the scene to score the first-ever interview with Kradison (“Idol” fans’ affectionate name for the triumvirate) and was able to get the scoop on the reunion concert.

“I called Ryan [Seacrest] and I said, ‘Dude, I really miss Kris Allen,’ ” Lambert joked.

“I think Ryan did it,” Allen said. “He said, ‘Let’s have a contest with these three people and vote to see what city it’s going to be in,’ so New York won.”

Since all the singers are on the road promoting their own respective albums, the “Idol” alumni don’t get to see each other much these days.

“We’re all really doing our own thing right now, but it’s great to see each other,” Lambert said.

“We do bump into each other a lot,” Iraheta pointed out.

Cantiello noticed one of the top-four season-eight contestants was missing: “Where’s Danny Gokey tonight?”

“Probably in Nashville,” Allen responded, adding that the third-place finisher has a country album coming out in the near future.

All three planned to perform their own individual set and it has also been rumored that the three will collaborate together onstage at some point during the show.

Shocked over Adam Lambert’s recent performance antics? Don’t be, says American Idol winner Kris Allen, because there is more to come.

“Yeah, that’s who he is,” Allen told the press at last Friday’s Z100′s Jingle Ball at New York’s Madison Square Garden. “Obviously, he couldn’t do that stuff on Idol. And so you’re getting to see the real Adam now.”

Lambert caused an uproar for his sexually-charged performance on the American Music Awards last month, which led ABC to cancel his scheduled New Year’s Eve appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live and his performance on Good Morning America. He was allowed to appear on The View.

“I thought it was Adam being Adam,” Allen said of Lambert’s AMA performance. “I’m going to get a shirt that just says, ‘That’s Adam.’ ”

As for Lambert, he says he has found a way to address the controversies through his music.

“[The single 'Whataya Want From Me'] is a great way for me to say to the public, ‘What do you guys want from me? I’m doing my best,’ ” he said. “And the best lyric in the song is ‘I’m a freak but thanks for lovin’ me. ‘Cause you’re doing it perfectly.’ ”

The Idol runner-up just hopes fans don’t stop loving his music. “I think that’s my biggest fear,” Lambert admitted.
